New CEO at Bending Technology: “From Floor Sweeper to CEO”
As of October 1, Bending Technology has appointed a new CEO. It is by no means an unfamiliar face taking the seat at the head of the table. The former Head of Production, Kristian Høy Andersen, succeeds his father, Asger Andersen.
From floor sweeper to CEO
That Kristian is now stepping into the role of CEO in his father’s company is the result of a long journey and many years of experience in the business. One thing is certain – no shortcuts were taken. In fact, it was entirely by the book when a 13-year-old Kristian, back in 2003, applied for a part-time job as a floor sweeper at what was then Gustav Østergaard.
Since those early days, he has worked his way through the ranks – from blacksmith apprentice and production to sales manager, and now, CEO.
“I know the company inside out – both from the production floor and the management side. Over the past five years, Asger has prepared me to take over, so I know exactly what I’m stepping into,” says Kristian Høy Andersen.
For Kristian, there is also a sense of pride in continuing what his father has built:
“I’m taking over a healthy, growing company. I’ve helped build it myself, but I also owe Asger a great deal of gratitude for creating the right foundation. It’s a strong platform to continue developing from.”
The right foundation
The generational change did not come out of the blue. Father and son made the decision three years ago, and now the time has come.
The foundation is not only about the company’s solid position, but also about ensuring its strength through both practical experience and theoretical knowledge. Kristian is a trained blacksmith and later supplemented his education with a degree in business economics – giving him the best possible foundation for leading the company.
“I want to create a modern company that embraces the future. We will continue to deliver top-class profile bending and remain known for the highest quality in Europe. At the same time, I want Bending Technology to be a workplace where people are happy to come every day. That requires investment and hard work – but we’re already well on our way,” says Kristian Høy Andersen.
A journey toward something unique
When Asger Andersen acquired Gustav Østergaard in 2001, it was Vejle’s largest blacksmithing company. But it was the bending process that truly captured his interest. Slowly, the machines were brought back to life, and through curiosity and innovation, the business evolved. Today, Bending Technology is among the most advanced companies in Europe within its field and exports to 27 countries.
“Our customers should always recognize us – but they should also feel our progress. We want to be even more visible and approachable, to listen to their challenges and help them move forward, while maintaining the quality we’re known for,” says Kristian Høy Andersen.
A year ago, the company took another step on its journey. With a new name and identity, Bending Technology continued its growth and development in both the Danish and global markets. A new website was also launched recently, and with the new CEO in place, the direction is clear for the years ahead.
Expansion of the ownership group
As part of the leadership transition, the ownership group has also been expanded. Long-time key employee Stanislav Josef Wirkus has become a co-owner of the company.
“Stanislav is an exceptionally skilled craftsman and has been a key figure in developing several of the techniques we use today. He’s a great example of how dedication and craftsmanship can lead all the way to ownership,” says Asger Andersen.
The ownership is now divided as follows: Kristian Høy Andersen (40%), Asger Andersen (50%), and Stanislav Josef Wirkus (10%).
Although Asger Andersen is handing over the reins, he will remain an active part of Bending Technology – now on a part-time basis – where his experience and insight will continue to play an important role in the company’s development.
The generational transition will be officially celebrated with a reception in the first half of 2026, where employees, customers, and partners will be invited to mark this new chapter for Bending Technology.
